  • Provides non-judgmental, confidential support
  • Provides emergency intervention if necessary

CONTACT volunteers make daily calls to the homebound, including the elderly, ill and disabled. In-home assessments provide entry into the program and assure that the client’s needs are being met. These “care-calls” help alleviate the depression associated with isolation while providing other services, such as medication reminders. If necessary, CONTACT will provide emergency follow-up with local police to ensure the safety of a Reassurance client.

A Reassurance home visit and ensuing care-call allows an elderly or disabled individual the ability to remain in a familiar, comfortable environment knowing someone will confirm their well-being and assess their needs. They also have the comfort of knowing, in the event of an emergency, the appropriate intervention will be made.

The service provides the client and their care giving family security and confirmation of well being while alleviating isolation and loneliness. The Reassurance volunteer insures that the client is in reasonably good health and that basic necessities are being met. It also provides non-judgmental emotional support. In some cases, the Reassurance volunteer is the only voice the client will hear that day and may be the only human contact they will have in their home. This personal interaction is crucial for the client’s mental and physical well being. A Reassurance care-call allows the client to know that living alone does not mean being alone. A Reassurance care-call can give meaning to someone’s life, a reason to get up in the morning and a familiar connection to find assistance if assistance is needed.
