Become a Crisis Helpline Volunteer!

More than just a voice…
CONTACT of Burlington County’s trained volunteers often talk with people who say they have called many places trying to find a resource that might help them.  Callers may not be sure what their next step should be in handling their situation.  Sometimes they are not even sure what questions to ask.
Our trained volunteers assist callers in sorting through complex or confusing situations and share with them resources that are available in the community.

Our volunteers are students, retired individuals, homemakers, business and professional people.  A volunteer must be 18 and a high school graduate at time of application.  To volunteer on our 24/7 Helplines, you must complete our training where you learn and practice special techniques for responding to people in crisis.  Training sessions include information on listening skills, depression, suicide, referral assistance, community resources and data.  CONTACT training is registered with the New Jersey Department of Education as Professional Development for New Jersey Educators.
